The Ericksons!
We’re the Ericksons!
Christina is from Gainesville, FL, home of the Florida Gators. She grew up going to all of the football and basketball games, before eventually attending for undergrad. Aaron is from Wisconsin where they make the cheese.
Our meeting is a very modern story. We found each other in North Carolina through a dating app (shout out to Hinge!) and made it to two dates before Aaron was deployed to the Middle East in January 2020. We spent many hours getting to know each other over the phone and Zoom calls over the next couple of months. COVID turned a 2-month deployment into 5 months. Then his return was very much “dating in the times of COVID:” lots of hiking and pool days until the world started to open back up. Just recently, we did a year of long-distance while Christina moved out here for school and Aaron waited for a military transfer. This past August we got married and are very grateful to simply be together.
We are both in a season of busyness and tend to enjoy more rest in our precious spare moments. In the past, however, we loved anything that got us outside and/or active: rock climbing, jogging, hiking, gym-going, skiing/snowboarding, and the like.
Christina discovered Garden City soon after she moved to the area to start law school. Aaron enjoyed attending on the occasional weekend visit. We’ve really grown closer to the church through friendships in small groups and look forward to the years ahead as members now!
Christina was part of a Life Group for her first year in CA. Since getting married and entering a new school year, course scheduling issues required us to change groups, but it offered us the natural opportunity to meet and grow closer to more people in the church. Joining a new group as a couple has been a joy for both of us and something we look forward to each week!
Our favorite place in the Bay? Our home. Once Aaron moved to San Jose, we spent an arduous three weeks trying to find a place to live. It was a very busy time with Christina taking a Summer class while also working full time, and Aaron beginning work with a three-hour commute. But, the Lord provided and has given us a place to rest and grow closer together.
God has been at work in reshaping our hearts and perspectives through marriage. Please keep us in your prayers as we navigate these new waters; that we would do so joyfully and with humility.
