Shea Salinas
Elder
Shea Salinas was born and raised in Texas where he did not grow up going to church, but came to know Jesus in high school. During his junior year, someone asked him if he was a Christian. He answered honestly with a casual, “Yeah. I believe in God and that Jesus existed.” His friend’s next words changed his life forever, saying “So does the devil.” This launched Shea into pursuing what it actually meant to have a relationship with Jesus, and came to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior shortly thereafter. He was baptized later that year.
Shea and Julie Salinas were married after meeting at Furman University in South Carolina where Shea graduated with a B.S. in Exercise Science. They have two young sons, Gabriel and Jude. Shea and Julie joined Garden City in 2012 and continue to enjoy being a part of this church family.
Shea is in his 10th year as a professional soccer player, having played the majority of his career in San Jose. He spent one season in both Philadelphia, PA and Vancouver, Canada. He is passionate about using his public role to make a positive impact in kids lives.
Jesus came to give us life in abundance (John 10:10) and Shea not only wants to experience more of what that means, but he wants others to experience it as well.
