COVID-19 Update, March 12, 2020

Garden City members,

Since our president’s address last night, coronavirus realties and reactions have escalated rapidly and new guidance was given from the White House to Santa Clara County about reducing and limiting the size of large gatherings.

To best care for our church and city right now we’ve decided to not hold our usual 4pm Sunday service for the next two weeks (March 15 & 22). We will continue to be the church—to gather and scatter—during this time, but it will look different. This moment is an opportunity for God to do some fresh things in and through our church family. 

If you are healthy and comfortable, we are encouraging our church to have smaller gatherings on Sundays at 10am. The idea is to gather with your Life Group at 10am the next two Sundays for a smaller and different worship service that we will guide you through via video and written content we will post on The Hub shortly before 10am on Sundays. What I will probably do with my Life Group is ask another Life Group to join us on Sundays at 10am (only those who are healthy and comfortable with this) as a way to make some new connections within our church family. You and your Life Group might consider doing this also. If you’re sick or don’t feel comfortable with this smaller sized gathering, we encourage you to still gather in your home with your family or roommates on Sundays at 10am and tune into the guided content/worship experience we will provide on The Hub. Life Groups may certainly also meet mid-week if they want to, but we’re taking this moment to make Sundays a unique gathering/worship/discipleship time for our Life Groups. In this anxious time, let’s be a church contagious with good news and let's find creative ways to share the gospel and our lives with others. Let’s be creative. Let’s trust God. Let’s pray big. Let’s make disciples. Let’s seek the welfare of our city.
