Sunday's Setlist 10/20/19
Church!
We released our first EP a month ago this week. So thankful for how God has used that project. I was meeting with the worship team from another local church who are looking to do the same for their church family. I was reminded of how thankful I am that God has given us songs to sing, a family to sing them with, and an amazing Savior to sing them to! I cannot wait to gather with you this weekend.
Here’s the songs we’re singing on Sunday!
Oh Our Lord - This song looks to the majestic Psalm 8 which opens and ends with, “O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” This psalm and this song are a fantastic way to begin a gathering in which we come to worship. We look at all of who He is and what He has done, and we sing about how great that is! I encourage you: read the psalm as you listen to the song on the playlist below!
Brother! Sister! - This song comes from the EP we released a month ago (listen to it here) and was birthed from Psalm 113. It is a call to worship to the people of God. One of the lines comes from these verses in Psalm 113:7–8:
He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap, to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people.
In the psalm, I love that God doesn’t just lift the poor and needy out from our mess. He lifts them to somewhere. He makes the poor and needy sit with princes. People of God, see that he hasn’t lifted you out of our mess only. He has lifted us up to be heirs and children of God! Praise the Lord!Grace Greater Than Our Sin - I grew up singing this hymn as a young boy. I love the line, “Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace freely bestowed on all who believe. You, who are longing to see His face, will you this moment His grace receive?” Wow. John’s gospel reminds us that in Christ Jesus we have received “grace upon grace” (Jn. 1:16). Friends, you need not wait till Sunday to receive His grace. Would you look upon Him and receive it today!
Is He Worthy? - I have loved singing this song together. I simply love the picture that Andrew Peterson and Ben Shive paint in the re-telling of this epic scene from Revelation 5. This call & response, question & glorious answer is a picture of what all creation wonders being answered by the hosts of heaven. One of the implications of singing this song corporately is that we, as saints and followers of Jesus, get to answer the questions of this song with the same authority as those in heaven. Is any worthy? Is anyone whole? Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll? Is He worthy? Is He worthy of all blessing and honor and glory? Is He worthy of this? HE IS!
So looking forward to singing with you on Sunday!
