Garden City's Top 20 Food Experiences

Garden City Church has been in the Bay for almost 12 years. Hundreds have called Garden City their church home as they enjoyed the diverse culinary selection of the Valley. (One former church staffer even opened his own coffee shop.) In our Discipleship Culture Guidebook, we talk about how Jesus often did ministry over a meal, and how meal-sharing is central to our discipleship philosophy. We’re always asking one another, “What’s your favorite place to eat?”

Here are Garden City’s top 20 culinary picks of the Bay:

A Morning Bite, A Crafted Sip

  1. Park Station Hashery

A local fav right across the street from our current meeting place! We love this one-of-a-kind brunch spot and the friendly folks who work here - so much that we’ve made it HQ for staff meetings.

  2. Manresa Bread

Good local coffee, kind people, and even better bread. Try the almond croissant!

  3. Academic Coffee

Would we even be Christians if like 85% of us didn’t have a coffee addiction? Academic is a hearty, innovative coffee shop for craft beverages.

  4. Living Room Coffee Craft

You’re almost guaranteed to run into someone you know at Living Room. Expertly crafted drinks and amazing cheesy waffle & scone creations.

  5. Los Gatos Cafe

Get a cinnamon roll and then recruit 4 more people to help you eat it.

  6. The Point Market

A bit of a (gorgeous) drive away, these burritos are worth it.

Midday Cravings

  1. The Smoking Pig

Our go-to BBQ for lunch, dinner, catering, you name it.

  2. HOM Korean Kitchen

Like Chipotle except it’s Korean comfort food, so it’s way better.

  3. Zanotto’s Family Market

You think it’s just a grocery store… think again! Head to the deli, order a sandwich, and eat well for 3 days.

  4. Taco Chencho, and Alam’s Taqueria trucks

We couldn’t pick our favorite taco truck, so we gave you two!

  5. De los altos Grill

A taco truck in a building. It’s a brick-and-mortar with all the goodness you’d expect from the Bay Area’s outstanding taco vendors on wheels. David recommends the “Al Pastor taco with cheese.”

An Evening Out

  1. Orchard City Kitchen

We practically share the same name. They say it’s ‘New American’… whatever it is, it’s ridiculously amazing. Tapas-style comfort food and unique bites. Fun cocktails. Order the Triple B.

  2. Walia

A go-to Ethiopian stop. Craving injera? Get your fix!

  3. The Table

This Willow Glen eatery knows the way only a Table can bring people together.

  4. The Grandview Restaurant

High above the hills of East San Jose, this grand Italian spot features delicious plates and even better views.

  5. LuDwig’s

A local gem - German-style dishes and beer garden.

  6. La Vics

Some may prefer Iguana’s, but the general consensus is that those people are wrong and that La Vic’s orange sauce and however they make those tortillas so dang fluffy is the reason it wins every time.

  7. Luna Mexican Kitchen

Rich traditional Mexican dishes in a vibrant environment. Luna believes making Mexican food the way our ancestors did can heal a person.

Treats You’ll Tell Your Mom About

  1. Marianne’s Ice Cream

The way ice cream shops should be. There are like 100 great flavors; we love ‘1020.’

  2. Stan’s Donuts

Last, but in no way least, this donut joint feels like it perfected donuts 50 years ago and then did exactly the same thing ever since. Go early and get ‘em while they’re hot!
