Word & Prayer Reflection: Psalm 70

But I am poor and needy;
hasten to me, O God!
You are my help and my deliverer;
O Lord, do not delay!
— Psalm 70:5

Today, was hectic. From the moment I woke up, my day has been a sprint.
I slept past my alarm, I was late to the first thing on my calendar this morning.

1 Make haste, O God, to deliver me!
    O Lord, make haste to help me!
2 Let them be put to shame and confusion
    who seek my life!
Let them be turned back and brought to dishonor
    who delight in my hurt!
3 Let them turn back because of their shame
    who say, “Aha, Aha!”
4 May all who seek you
    rejoice and be glad in you!
May those who love your salvation
    say evermore, “God is great!”
5 But I am poor and needy;
    hasten to me, O God!
You are my help and my deliverer;
 O Lord, do not delay!

Work was hectic. I was in a Zoom meeting with 1000 participants. I was tasked at the last minute to run the Q&A portion of the conference call. My team didn’t decide on a format of taking questions beforehand, so I had to just wing it. Hundreds of people trying to ask a question all at once. I was wearing AirPods that call.

This week was hard. My flesh has been fighting me, it’s constantly at war with the Spirit.

An instant shift started to take over. A brother spontaneously reached out to get coffee in-between my work shift.

I got to see my family in the evening and we had an impromptu family dinner. There was joy, laughter, and photos were taken. I got to spend time with my nephew who I haven’t seen for months now.

I headed to the gym and was able to say a prayer before my workout. I read this Psalm and immediately smiled in thankfulness.
Lord I rejoice and I am glad in you! You have turned my day around just like that. You have delivered me from the depths of my frustrations with haste. I did not expect it.

Lord, I love your salvation and thus I say, “God is great!

Lord, you do not delay. Let this be living proof.

Brothers & sisters, sometimes we pray specifically to be delivered from the tough things we go through. The power of prayer is absolutely profound. But sometimes we don’t get delivered from those things exactly the way we expect it.

I truly believe the Lord does not delay. You may think He does because you don’t see or feel a shift in exactly what you seek. But I encourage you to seek out His deliverance outside of your ideal framework.

I had a great workout tonight. Rushed home to shower and write this note to you.

All glory to Him forever and ever!
