Get to Know a Garden City Member: The Beshays

Hi, we’re the Beshays!  Joe was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt. His family lived less than a 15-minute walk away from his church, his grandparents, and many of his relatives. Growing up, Joe spent his free time in one of these places, or just taking apart electronics.  Conversely, Kirsten is a Sunnyvale native who grew up walking up and down the Bay Trail with her family (the glamorous part near the sewage treatment plant).  She took Joe there on their first date to make sure he’d fit in.

Our Life Group just finished reading the book of Judges, which we’re both very excited about.  It wasn’t always the easiest read, but we both learned new things about the Bible and our world.  

There’s a hidden creek trail in Saratoga where we took our wedding pictures.  (We got married a few months ago, thankfully missing the quarantine.)  It’s usually pretty empty, but when we showed up in full wedding garb to do our first look, there were 20 preschoolers on a field trip!

We felt led by God to give out some Easter goodie bags (plastic eggs, toilet paper rolls, and a note inviting them to online church).  We got some really positive responses, and one neighbor joined us for Life Group and opened up to us!  We’re feeling really encouraged that God can use us to meet the needs around us, even if we aren’t aware of them.  Pray for us to connect with more of our neighbors to serve them and share about Jesus!
