Get to Know a Garden City Member: Joey Lam

Hi, church! This is Joey :)

I was born in Hong Kong, and I’ve been in the bay area since high school. When I think about Hong Kong, one of the first things that come to mind is the street food (check out these deep-fried French toast!)

Out here in California, Lake Tahoe is one of my favorite spots! It’s gorgeous both in the winter and summer. It’s a great place for a quick weekend getaway.

I’m part of the Sunnyvale Life Group. We are currently going through Bonhoeffer’s The Cost of Discipleship. It’s not the easiest book to read, but I love wrestling through this with my Life Group. It does a great job unpacking what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. I’d highly recommend going through this book with a group.

Being an extrovert, shelter in place has not been easy. This has been a great opportunity for me to learn to rest in the Lord and to appreciate my alone time. I am thankful for the ability to still “meet” with my church family regularly, but I cannot wait to see you all in person hopefully soon!
