Get to Know a Garden City Member: The Jenkins'

We are the Jenkins’ (Ronnie, Tamara, Marley, Willow, and baby 3 due in October). Originally from England, Ronnie has lived in Silicon Valley for 25 years and Tamara is a Silicon Valley native, born and raised in San Jose. We have been together for 15+ years and have grown up together. Over the years we have seen much change in our own lives as well as in the landscape of Silicon Valley. We still enjoy discovering new places and things to do, and one of our favorite day trips is down to Monterey/Pacific Grove. Marley and Willow love the aquarium & beaches and we love driving the coast as well as grabbing some food by the patio fire pits at Spanish Bay. It also has a special meaning, as it is the place that Ronnie proposed to Tamara 10 years ago.

We have been attending Garden City going on 9 years now. Tamara visited Garden City for the first time without Ronnie and the very next day coincidentally gave him “Date Your Wife” as an anniversary gift. We both visited together the next week and the rest is history. Our journey started by attending as a young married couple, to becoming Deacons together, to being on staff for 2 years (Ronnie), to serving on the Elder team and attending as a family of (almost) 5. God has grown us immensely during our time at Garden City and we feel that we have grown up with the church alongside so many dear friends. 

The past few months have been challenging sheltering in place with 2 little ones while being pregnant, and still working full time in Real Estate, but we have had some very special moments together as a family. Marley and Willow are lucky to have each other to play with and we have done lots of extra crafts including making an at-home aquarium (since the real one is closed). The girls love to sing & dance, and play dress up. There is never a dull moment in our home, and it is full of joy (even though mama and daddy are very tired). We have enjoyed virtually connecting with our life group each week and look forward to gathering together in person with all of you soon.
