The Underwoods!

Hi folks, we're the Underwoods!

First, some intros: Even though Karly works as Garden City's Connections Coordinator, the most visible members of our family are the champions of chaos, Avery (older) and Ellie (younger). There's also me, Jake, though Max is apparently putting his byline on all of these posts. Don't let him fool you!

After an invite from the Husses--Karly was their wedding photographer--we started attending Garden City in early 2022, fresh off a move from our home state of Indiana. Indiana is a big part of our story, but here's the gist: Karly and I meet in middle school, date in college, get married in 2018, have two kids, and play a lot of basketball in between. 

As a whole, we're a strong balance between sporty and nerdy, just as likely to watch a game as we are to spend a weekend playing through every--every!--Mario Kart 8 Deluxe track with our friends from back home. So whatever you like to do, we're probably down for joining. We'd love to meet you!

Although we originally moved out to California for my job at Apple, what's made us fall in love with the state is the community we've built at Garden City (and the weather...). We spend a lot of time chasing children, so the people that the church have brought us has added some much-needed stability after a long, long stretch of uncertain moments.

We're a part of the newly minted Nick Niemann/Annie Bosel Life Group, and the cast is one we've continued to lean on. We've built a lot of connections and it helped us feel welcome right away, enough to play contentious UNO games and 3-hour long volleyball matches at our first retreat this past Spring.

God's been hard at work over the past few months, and His faithfulness has brought us new opportunities to branch out and a peace that we're in the right place with the right people. We're praying every day that life maintains this pace, and would appreciate prayers from you all as well!
