Get to Know a Garden City Member: The Garcias
Hello there, Garden City! Season's greetings from the Garcia family. We are Joe, Cindy, Ethan, and Lucas. All of us were born and raised here in South San Jose (fun fact: Cindy is 4th generation San Jose-an). We've seen a lot of changes to our fair city, but we're staying! We are big fans of games, Sci-Fi, live theater, music, and Marianne's Ice Cream.
There are a ton of spots we like to visit here in SJ. Cindy is partial to Martial Cottle Park here in the BV, but she's been known to frequent the many hiking trails of Quicksilver Park down in Almaden. The boys are finding themselves drawn to any mall-related gathering spots, but the promise of being able to swim in the ocean no matter the season always elicits an excited response from them. And Joe is content anywhere there is a used book or record store within walking distance.
We have been a part of the Blossom Valley Life Group for almost four years. One of the many things I've loved about our group is the way people from wildly different stages of life can come together with the common purpose of loving Jesus and loving each other. We are so very thankful for the LG family God has brought us into!
We've been following Jesus for a long time. Like, decades (yikes!). Lately, our God-sized prayers center around our hope that we don't grow cold, callous, or lazy in our love for Jesus and His kingdom. It helps that one son is heading out to college, and the other has started high school. So our regular prayer for them is that they continue to know the goodness and kindness of Jesus. Praying like this has helped subdue the overwhelming sense of fear that can rise up in our hearts. We've also been praying this way for our co-workers, neighbors, and the students at Santa Teresa High School. We would love to see Jesus known more, and lives changed here in South San Jose!
