Get to Know a Garden City Member: Aaron Freyer
Hi! My name is Aaron. I’ve been apart of Garden City since 2014, when I moved to San Jose to attend San Jose State. I moved from a suburb of Portland, Oregon where it’s drizzling, if not raining, for 9 months of the year. When in high school I realized there were places where the sun shines and palm trees line the streets, I jumped on the opportunity to move to California for college!
Though our Life Group looks different right now, it has been a welcome highlight to get to gather and meet still. Recently, our group played mini golf. I talked a big pre-game but went home humbled by my high score (high is bad apparently). I’m glad to have a Life Group that humbles me! It has also been exciting and unexpected to see our group grow in 2020. God has grown our Life Group and the friendships that have formed over the past 9 months.
In February I got a dog—a Shiba Inu (re)named Jack. What I didn’t know is that once you have a dog you are inaugurated into a secret dog community that you never knew existed. Jack and I walk or run a few miles around my neighborhood every day and I have enjoyed getting to know neighbors (who are also apart of this secret dog community) I would have otherwise never met.
With the dog, my favorite places around the Bay Area have also changed. One of my new favorite things to do is hike the Kennedy Trail in Los Gatos. I also like working from (when it’s an option again) some of our local coffee shops like Sue’s Gallery Cafe in Saratoga, and Verve in Palo Alto.
I’ve been known, and known well, by many of you at Garden City over the past few years. Thank you for being the Church so well.
Aaron
